What is Reformer Pilates?
Reformer Pilates, like other styles of Pilates, works the entire body through a series of repetitive exercises, helping to improve strength, postural alignment and muscle balance. Reformer Pilates makes use of a very unique piece of exercise equipment comprised of a sliding carriage, springs, handles and foot-bar to provide resistance against each motion.
About Reformer Pilates
We offer a variety of styles from Fundamentals, to Intermediate, Glutes+Abs, Stretch, and Pregnancy. If you’re a beginner, we ask that you attend 5 Fundamentals classes so that you can get to grips with the machine before attending Intermediate, and that you attend a further 5 Intermediate classes before trying out Glutes+Abs or Stretch.
No experience needed before attending a Pregnancy Class, but please let the teacher know if you have any underlying conditions.

Hannah Blackburn
Hannah’s journey in becoming a Pilates teacher began after she suffered a traumatic back injury whilst travelling in Bali in 2014. Through the regular practice of Pilates, she discovered the power of strengthening and aligning the deepest muscles of the body in order to ease the pain and discomfort. She returned to London to study with Alan Herdman, the man who famously introduced Pilates to the UK in 1970. Learning the method in a rehabilitative style, she has then completed further training in classical and somatic styles of Pilates. Alongside Matwork, Hannah teaches with all of the classical equipment, including the reformer. Her classes aim to utilise all of the principles of Pilates, some of which include control, concentration and the use of the breath. You will leave feeling strong, nourished and energised as you experience the incredibly deep method that Joe Pilates himself described as feeling like “an internal shower”.
