Meet The Teacher

Jane Gambarini

Jane Gambarini’s passion for Pilates began following a neurological diagnosis in 2010, when she discovered how the practice built body awareness, stability and control. After training as a STOTT PILATES® Certified Instructor and teaching in Dubai, and following an 18-year corporate leadership career with HP and Microsoft, Jane returned to the UK to found PT Pilates.

Dedicated to mentoring the next generation of teachers, she holds a YMCA Level 3 Award in Education and Training and a Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement. Jane designed the accredited PT Pilates Mat & Reformer Teacher Training Programmes to combine evidence-based movement with real-world skills, preparing graduates to teach safe, effective and engaging reformer classes.

Got questions?

Who is this training for?

This reformer training is open to mat pilates teachers, yoga teachers, and personal trainers who have been practicing reformer for over six months, already have a foundation in the body and want to teach reformer pilates at a high level.

You’ll need one of the following to enrol: a mat Pilates teaching qualification, a yoga teaching qualification (200hr minimum), or a personal training qualification (Level 3 or above). If you’re unsure whether your current qualification meets the entry requirements, get in touch and we’ll let you know.

WHY STOTT PILATES®?

Not all Pilates training is equal, and the methodology behind your education matters. STOTT PILATES® was developed by Moira Merrithew and Lindsay G. Merrithew alongside a team of physical therapists and sports medicine experts, preserving the core principles of Joseph Pilates’ original method while incorporating contemporary biomechanical research.

The curriculum is science-based rather than tradition alone, internationally recognised and accepted globally by the Register of Exercise Professionals, the American Council on Exercise, and canfitpro. Studios and health clubs specifically seek out STOTT-trained teachers for the consistency and rigour of the education, and the method continues to evolve with new research, so what you learn reflects current best practice.

The spring-resistance environment of the reformer demands a precise understanding of how the body loads, compensates and adapts. The STOTT curriculum meets that with a level of anatomical depth other reformer pilates qualifications don’t reach.

WHY TRAIN IN A REAL WORKING STUDIO?

There’s a meaningful difference between learning Reformer Pilates in a dedicated studio and completing a course in a hired venue. At Yogarise, your training takes place in the same studios where we teach our own clients every day, on professional reformers, in a live teaching environment, surrounded by instructors who practise what they teach. You’ll absorb how a real class runs, how clients are welcomed and managed, how equipment is maintained, and what it actually feels like to teach in a professional space.

WHAT QUALIFICATION WILL I RECEIVE?

You’ll receive the PT Pilates Reformer Teacher Training Certification, built on the STOTT PILATES® curriculum. This is internationally recognised and respected across the industry, but it is not the same as an Ofqual-regulated Level 3. What it offers is rigorous, science-based training in a globally trusted methodology, delivered in a working studio with a clear path into teaching once you graduate.

WILL I GET TO TEACH AFTER I QUALIFY?

Yes. Graduates are offered the opportunity to teach at our Peckham and Queen’s Park studios, stepping straight into a professional teaching environment with an established client base.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

Assessment is by two exams: a multiple-choice written paper and a practical teaching exam.

Is a manual or study material included?

Yes. You will receive a reformer Pilates manual. This includes a comprehensive reading list and suggested resource links to support your ongoing independent study.

Is there a payment plan available?

Yes. You can secure your place by paying a £500 deposit at the time of booking, with the remaining balance due in monthly installments up to the start of the training. This allows you to spread the cost while guaranteeing your spot on this popular immersion.

WHERE DOES THE TRAINING TAKE PLACE?

At our Yogarise Peckham and Yogarise Queen’s Park studios in London.

Help! I have more questions?

We’re here to help. If you have specific questions about the syllabus or the requirements, please email our Director of Trainings, Clare, at clare@yogarise.london

What to expect on Shamita's Hatha Yoga pradipika training

What to expect

Once qualified, all graduates will be offered the opportunity to teach Reformer Pilates classes in our Peckham and Queen’s Park studios. This is a paid teaching role, providing essential studio teaching experience, which is usually very hard to come by.

We want our trainees to feel part of the ‘Yogarise family’ and to gain valuable practical teaching experience. After a rigorous (and fun!) STOTT PILATES®-based training, plus real studio teaching, you’ll be brimming with confidence — well equipped to build your own client base, attend auditions for cover lists at other studios, and put ‘Yogarise’ on your teaching CV. Don’t miss your chance to find your inspiration and join a friendly community of like-minded Yogarisers!

For anyone moving into reformer teaching from mat Pilates, yoga or personal training, that transition matters enormously. The gap between qualifying and actually teaching is where many instructors lose momentum.
