NEVER PRACTICED WITH ERIN BEFORE?

No worries. There is the option to meet or practise with Erin in Peckham or Online to see whether this is the right training for you. Our Head of Trainings, Clare, would also love to answer any of your questions or meet for a cuppa.

IS THERE ANY PRE-COURSE READING?

Yes. The following book is mandatory: Light on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali by B.K.S Iyengar. Please also sign up to listen to the first 5 FREE meditations from the Introductory Course on the Waking Up App by Sam Harris. If you would like more (optional) recommendations for further reading, we can give you a list.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO RECEIVE A CERTIFICATE?

All students are expected to practise daily during the training unless advised otherwise. In case of sickness or unforeseen circumstances that might stop you from completing the course on time the option of catching-up will be given, however, additional charges may apply. Please see Ts+Cs for more information on this.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED

Practical exam: You will learn a 60-minute set vinyasa sequence during the training which you will be expected to teach by the end of the course. We will be examining areas such as cueing, modifications, the pace of the class, and assists. This will take place outside of the teaching times/dates above.

Written exam: There is a written exam at the end of the course in which you will be tested on key areas of philosophy and anatomy. You will also be required to complete an anatomy quiz  as part of your assessment.

On-going assessment: There will be daily reading in Mexico, sometimes including research on philosophy or journalling. You will also be asked to complete short tasks linked to the reading materials as ‘homework’ throughout your London modules.

Observation: You will be expected to observe at least three different teachers from an approved list – this task is designed to help new teachers develop their own style and find their own ‘voice’.

WHAT MODULES WILL I STUDY?

Teaching Methodology – all about techniques, how to sequence, demo, adjust and cue, how to lead groups and individuals, how to integrate pregnant/postnatal students into class, Yoga for Mental Health + Resilience

Developing Yoga Practice – asana A-Z, pranayama, bandhas, drishti, meditation, Sanskrit and mantras.

Anatomy + Physiology – practical anatomy and energetic anatomy (nadis, prana, chakras), injuries and how to prevent them.

Philosophy + History of Yoga – The Yoga Sutras, eight limb path, ayurvedic lifestyle, yoga philosophies and incorporating them into daily life.

Practical Aspects of Yoga Teaching – the business of yoga, social media and marketing, teacher etiquette/ethics, finding your voice as a yoga teacher, and ‘beyond the studio: taking your yoga into the wider community’.

is the paid teaching upon graduation mandatory?

No, not at all. This is a professioinal qualification for those who would like to go on to teach but if you are taking the course to further your knowledge and deepen your practice, there is no requirement whatsoever. It’s up to you 🙂

Unique to Yogarise

Once qualified, all graduates will be offered the opportunity to lead our Community Yoga classes for at least one month (up to six months!) in our studios and online. This is a paid teaching role, providing essential studio teaching experience – which is usually very hard to come by.

We want our trainees to feel part of the ‘Yogarise family’ and to gain valuable practical teaching experience. After a rigorous (and fun!) 200-hour training, plus at least one month’s teaching, you will be brimming with confidence, feeling well equipped to set up private classes, attend auditions for cover lists at other studios and put ‘Yogarise’ on your teaching CV.

Don’t miss your chance to find your inspiration and join a friendly community of like-minded Yogarisers!

Testimonials

Having the intensive in Mexico, aside from being a fabulous place to visit, really allows you to sink into the practice and develop deep relationships with your fellow teachers.

CHLOE
The Yogarise teacher training was honestly a dream – to be in Mexico engulfed in learning and connecting to your practice. And then to finish in London surrounded by inspiration and…opportunities of the community class, and now my own permanent slot as a teacher at the studio.

ELEANOR

The Yogarise YTT exceeded all my expectations – from the teacher panel – their expertise + depth of knowledge, to the care of everyone involved in the organisation & the training itself; not to mention the destination, the curriculum, and the community support throughout.

SAMANTHA

I would highly recommend the Yogarise Teacher Training programme. You are taught by some of the best and most passionate teachers out there and even if you don’t go on to teach, you will develop a new understanding of yoga that will enhance your own practice.

AMANDA

I think Erin is a wonderful facilitator. She’s sensitive, patient, super sharp, and intuitive with the group’s needs – individual and collective. Very good at leading discussions makes everyone feel welcome and safe and heard.
