We all know how wonderful yoga is for adults – but kids yoga is just as transformative, and the earlier children discover it, the better. Promote mobility, body awareness, and breath awareness at a formative age, while also guiding children towards emotional regulation through simple, playful mindfulness practices. Encouraging little ones to find those calm, centred spaces within themselves – and actually enjoy doing it.
Got a 5–10 year old? Here’s why yoga might be exactly what they need.
Benefits of Kids Yoga
These classes offer a whole range of developmental benefits, including enhanced mobility, strength and coordination, improved concentration and early mindfulness, a healthy sense of body awareness, tools for managing stress and anxiety – and most importantly, it’s fun and inclusive.
What Happens in a Class?
Classes typically begin with a warm-up game or song, move into a story-based yoga sequence, and close with a gentle wind-down, some breathing, and a moment to thank our bodies. Teachers use a wonderful range of engaging tools – stories, songs, music, books, breathing balls, visual aids, and props (yes, including bubbles).
